... guard well the mind from self-seeking of material wealth and seek first the spiritual.
Who wins the race of life, if race there can be said to be as regards this life on the earth plane? Is it the one who has all he desires of material wealth; money, position and all that goes with it? Or is it the one who counts only the spiritual values of life; love, regard for the rights of others, harmony, peace in his heart, but perhaps little of this world’s goods?
The latter can be said to be truly rich for it is the intangibles that go on with the person into the next step of life’s expression, the spiritual realms of life, where we can look back and realize that the struggle is not for material wealth but for spiritual.
Our well-being depends upon our outlook on life.
We can be wealthy, have all we need of material things, but be poor in spirit and in ill health. Truly then we are but paupers for material wealth is but temporary at best and ever fluctuating in time.
True, it is nice to have and many are the advantages of it, but “Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven that is within, and all else will be added to you,” is one of the commandments given to us to heed. So guard well the mind from self-seeking of material wealth and seek first the spiritual.
