Example is the best teacher and love is the method that succeeds over all.

 

We create constantly in thought, in the mind, that which we see manifested all about us. We are not conscious of these thoughts affecting us, but every thought has its effect and the sum total of our innermost secret thoughts are revealed by our life.  

We are indeed captains of our ships of life, steering them away from the reefs and shallow waters of disaster, keeping a firm hand on the rudder, not allowing the storms of life to dash us to pieces upon the rocks. We follow our ideals and steer a straight course for a safe harbor; that is, we do all this if we are wise enough and analytical enough to see what and how we act affects our lives.

We must be individuals and not carbon copies of another no matter how much we may admire another’s work and life. We are all different in thought, word and deed even when we share like thoughts. Each one, according to his inner light, shines on his or her own and what he thinks and acts on, he alone is responsible for.   

We all leave many things undone, we all make mistakes of judgment, we all fall into error at times, but that is life. That is how we learn and go forth and change and grow. If we do nothing or feel we know all and cannot improve, it is sad indeed for we are then spiritual cripples and need help to route us out of the ruts of living that have made this condition possible.   

Always try, never give up. Example is the best teacher and love is the method that succeeds over all.

Earthly Lessons

We wouldn’t be here on the earth plane if we did not have something to learn ...

 

We must accept life as it comes to us and, if possible, improve our lot by our own efforts. If we think creatively and constructively, everything will of itself turn out to be even more than we could anticipate, but being human we seldom can eliminate all the negation. However, if we keep on trying, or rather doing, and eliminate all we possibly can of this nature within ourselves, we are growing and we are accomplishing our mission.   

Many have a great deal of the negative about them when they start off this journey of life and are constantly battling it all through their life while others come into this life already having accomplished this feat, therefore there is not the barrier to prevent their achievements.   

We wouldn’t be here on the earth plane if we did not have something to learn and something to grow out of and leave behind that we may be better equipped to face our future life. It is all work with, of course, a little play along the way of life. But even in our relaxing time, in our play as it were, we are still in the school of life and still have lessons to learn.  

Therefore, as pupils, we must profit by our mistakes and the errors of others also for if we analyze these things, we find we can and do profit by the work of others as well as that of ourselves.  

It is a constant struggle and one which, no matter who might wish to give us a lift, must be done by self alone if we are gain greater insight into our world which is the Self within.

Self-Reliance

We must develop tolerance for the ideas and thoughts of others and realize that we have not cornered all the light of intelligence.  

 

Many times we think we are right, that we know the answer to what is right or wrong with things in the material world, and many times we find we ourselves are in error. By that term it is meant we do not see the light of truth as it really is. No one person is wholly in error, for always there is some light that they have that another may not possess. 

We must develop tolerance for the ideas and thoughts of others and realize that we have not cornered all the light of intelligence. All we each have to go on is our own light; we cannot use that of another except in as we accept their ideas as our own.  

Work always with your own self-reliant nature in the fore knowing you will not be let down but [will] have sufficient light for all your needs and help for those near you who may need your help. Keep faith with the self within, and know that nothing in the whole material realm of Nature can thwart you if you make up your mind that it will not.   

Guard against your fears and do not let them overcome you. Fear thoughts are but errors and can only bring more error into our lives. We do not mean for anyone to be foolhardy, one must use discretion, but do not become easily intimidated by conditions around and about you. Overcome them by positive thoughts and positive action with complete faith in self, in others and in God.

Sickness and Error

We pave our roads of life with our thoughts and thoughts bring action and action brings reaction ...

 

When sickness becomes a pattern, a way of life almost, it is certain and sure that the indwelling spirit is out of balance or out of harmony with life. The thought life has become warped and negative in nature, and faith in ultimate good is lacking.   

There are times in the life of everyone when this can and does happen, but since we are creatures of habit, and habit is formed from the thought life of the individual, it is this group of habits that is at fault. We are now a sum total of our thoughts, our habits and, as such, we have only ourselves to blame for the state we find ourselves in. 

If we find ourselves in a condition of negativism, we must make a strong effort to dislodge these erroneous habits and change them for positive and constructive ones no matter what the material outlook is at the present. It is the only solution and, though hard may be the road it follows, we will win out if we follow it to its conclusion.

We pave our roads of life with our thoughts and thoughts bring action and action brings reaction and so the chain goes on linking us with our destiny; self-made, self-sown and self-resurrecting. We must save ourselves from the erroneous life of negative forces which are all about us, and gain the higher vibration of positive force.

The Old and the New

The world is but a reflection of the mass thoughts of humanity, and nothing but a change in man’s thought life in a universal manner can bring us out of this darkness.

 

We all tend to cling to old ways and old habits of thought and action and find it very difficult to get out of this rut. By constant use, these ruts become deeper and more firmly embedded. Sometimes it actually takes an emotional earthquake to eliminate them and replace them with new and better ones.   

All we can do is try and, if we fail, remember that it is in persistent effort that our success lies and our seeming failure will be only a temporary thing. We are bound to have setbacks, that is all a part of the plan of life, for nothing goes on to progress without finding something of difficulty along life’s path. We would not learn life’s lessons if this were not so.   

Just keep in mind the goal of greater spiritual awareness, higher vibrations, greater peace and harmony and greater love, and all the lesser things will eliminate themselves, and you will be on the road to successful living in an age of chaos and great confusion. However this need not upset you, for you know there is a plan in all this -- it is but paving the way for the world to leave the swaddling clothes of the infant and to come out into the pure light of spiritual awareness, leaving the material gains in their proper perspective.

Using Positive Thought

 

 

We cannot overcome everything that must come into the life, but we can control our thinking about it. 

If we could only keep the positive thoughts in mind, eliminating all the negative, we would soon find ourselves in the state known as happiness. [With] all fear, all worry, all the negative thinking out of the way, there would be no obstacles to our road of success.

What success may be depends, of course, on the individual involved. To some it merely means more money, more material evidence of prosperity, while to the really discerning, it means greater love, greater health, greater spiritual awareness, a higher vibration in which to live, move and have our being.  

Each one will attain her desires if she is steadfast in her thinking and is deserving through her inner life. We cannot overcome everything that must come into the life, but we can control our thinking about it. At least keep positive thoughts and know that there is a reason for all things, and some circumstances must be accepted and lived through in order that we may grow.   

We cannot just make puppets of our loved ones, they must have freedom to live their lives as they see fit and to grow in the way they wish to grow, whether or not this way would be our way. We must be tolerant, we must enlarge our own vision that we may see this greater good and accept it as right.   

We do not see the whole picture. We only see our own little part and therefore we cannot judge what is best under all circumstances. Take what comes and be glad for only good will can come to you if you are a positive thinker.

Asking and Receiving

 

We must not expect, no matter what our desires may be, to have others do just as we may wish them to.

 

When we say, “Ask and you will receive.” which, of course, is a famous quote from the Bible, what is meant by that saying? Is it meant literally?  No, it is not quite meant that way, although if we picture what we desire long enough and couple it with action toward our goal, we are bound to have our desires accomplished. This is so unless our desires involve other people to a degree where their well-being is concerned. 

We must not expect, no matter what our desires may be, to have others do just as we may wish them to. Their rights as individuals being concerned and their desires also to be taken into consideration make this difficult to achieve. Yet it is not impossible and if no harm is involved to the people, but really their greater good, then sometimes it is accomplished.

We should ask in a general way for greater peace, greater harmony and joy in the life and a greater tolerance for the ways and the rights of others. In that way we set up a spiritual awareness that will bring these conditions to us if we are faithful and all things and people involved fall into the right perspective. 

Love is the greatest force and should lead us into the perfect peace and harmony we seek. “Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven within you and all else will be added to you.” 

Combatting Loneliness

We are as young as we feel and as happy as we allow ourselves to be always.

 

There are many ways of combatting loneliness which at times strikes at everyone. There comes a time in the life when, after a lifetime of activity, we are thrown upon our own resources to help us wile away the time. Time is of the essence and was never made to just pass by and never accomplish anything, but some people are satisfied to do just that. 

We must get away from a self-centeredness and into a true world-mindedness -- to be at one with the pulse of the world and to be willing to do whatever comes to us to do. In this way we are not setting up a wall around us and retreating into a shell.

Get out into the active world and be as active mentally and physically as is possible for you to do. All must do this or a form of mental and physical stagnation occurs which means that you are just going through the motions of living and not really living at all. We have to have the necessary ambition in order to do this. The desire must be to go on and keep on, keeping active and alive to all the needs of others as well as of self.   

Our interests and activities, of necessity, are not always the same. We grow older, things change and our pattern of life changes also. Loneliness can and often does creep in, and we wish to be useful and active as always. It is always possible to be active and useful for all we need to do so is the desire and to follow our desire with action.  

We are as young as we feel and as happy as we allow ourselves to be always.

Wise Sayings

 

 

Whenever a hunch or a thought of doing something comes to you, heed it and know that it is often this first thought that is the kernel in the nut.

 

Do not postpone that which is necessary to your day’s happiness.

 

Make your day complete by completing your day with a clear conscience.

 

Be just, that others may be just and fair with you.

 

Light the candle of kindness and do not extinguish it at any time.

 

Throw out fear for it is your only enemy.

 

There are symbols for all things, but why be satisfied with just a symbol?

 

Make love your goal and, to you, heaven will be here and now.

 

To the evil-minded all appears evil, while to the wise and good, all is both wise and good.

 

Each one receives that which he desires whether or not he knows this truth.

 

We are, and therefore God is.

Defeat the Forces of Darkness

Those who are working with the forces of darkness need desperately to evoke the forces of light and love ...

 

Where are we heading? Is it towards the light or are we just drifting along life’s current? Or are we tending toward the darkness?

When you ask yourself the above question, you and you alone know the answer. If we find we are progressing, well and good, but if we are just drifting along, we should stir ourselves to greater action and work to help ourselves over the hurdles of life and thereby win the race. Yes, the race is won only by determined persistent effort and does not go to the laggard or to the indolent.

We should have the desire and the will to win, not just to be satisfied with whatever chances come our way. Nothing succeeds like success and a little success in whatever line of endeavor will lend encouragement and progress will occur naturally. But first we must make the effort and work toward the goal, keeping in mind the finish so that our mental picture may bring to us the necessary ways toward the end.

Those who are working with the forces of darkness need desperately to evoke the forces of light and love to free them from the inevitable retribution which, in time, must and will come to them. They are as blind and do not ever realize what dreadful fate they have invoked for their destinies. 

Always it is through a lack of love -- an extreme lack of love -- and life becomes to them a thing of darkness, error and all its kin. Unless they are awakened to their fate, they go on until some dire tragedy awakens them and a glimmer of light comes to bring them back to a life of greater good. They walk a hard path until all error is finally obliterated from the slate and they can start afresh. A sad fate but one which many share. 

Commence now to strive always for the light and the love force of life which brings to all a happiness and an inner peace that passeth all understanding.
