Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all who follow this blog.
I'm posting photographs by Edward S. Curtis of native American Indians
scanned from the actual pages of Scribner's Monthly magazine in which they appeared.
My inspiration is this wonderful book about Curtis that my writer/editor daughter sent me knowing that I had some of the first published pages of the Curtis photos. It's no surprise that Egan won a National Book Award for it is a very special read. I recommend it to all aspiring photographers, whether analog or digital, and especially to freelancers everywhere who need to be reassured that hard work and talent will triumph over the discouraging word. To read a portion of The North American Indians by Edward S. Curtis click on this Gutenberg Project link.
For a great video of Tim Egan discussing his book on WELL READ with Tom Tazioli, click on this video link. 27:06.
