I have a problem with Gauguin's Tahitians. "Sono belle creature," as we say, and he failed to depict them as such, in my unscholarly opinion. Furthermore I don't think he could paint beauty. And we won't discuss his relations with his young concubines. I've been to Tahiti and the islands of the South Pacific and came to these conclusions from personal observation.
Hi Paul, your 111111 post tickled me, you know why? If you came to Genoa, there would be a fantastic exhibition of Van Gogh and Gauguin. I hope to be inspired by seeing their live impressionist paintings.
