Burning of the U.S.S. Philadelphia, 1804

Giambarba_tripoli

I'm glad to have found a Kodachrome of this watercolor I did many years ago. Did you know we were messing about with our navy in the Med so early on in our history as a nation? Read about it here. The painting was sold and is in a private collection.

Bill Clinton for Assistant POTUSA?

Salome_3

POTUSA is the acronym for President of the United States of America and that's Monica Lewinsky in the role of Salome.

Greetings!

When my son was four he asked me to make him a ship model he could build. I had been working on my book Early Explorers of America and drawing Portuguese caravels, so I made him this adaptation by using pine cut-offs and dowels.

These toys were made from pine cut-offs left over from house building and painted with One-Shot sign paint over a coat of gesso.

Time Out -- Summer Break

Under_constr

Whoa! Carpal tunnel and the demands of summer have led to a great deal of confusion in this blog. I have to blow the whistle and halt so I can play some serious catch-up, start the surgeries and then carry on. The political climate is insufferable, too hopeless for me to draw more caricatures.

In case you might be interested, that's my studio-workshop being built a few years ago in bountiful Sonoma County, California. Oh, do I misss that space now!
