FDR -- Will Happy Days Ever be Here Again?

FDR_20c

I had to add 20 cents to some postage and found this commemorative stamp of the greatest president of my time. Would that we become blessed with another FDR before it's too late to repair all the damage that has been done. For those of you too young to remember him, let me assure you that he was not loved by all. I've heard sermons preached against him and tirades by my fellow man. In the late 1990s I cringed as a retired doctor railed against Roosevelt and the New Deal even after FDR had been dead for over 50 years.

Happy Days are here again was his theme, played at his appearances as often as Hail to the Chief.

Jimmy Carter, a noble Nobel (Laureate)

Thank you, PBS, for bringing us the latest American Experience featuring the life of this incredibly good man particularly after a week of maudlin media coverage devoted to another ex-President. This is the link to the programs, Part I of which aired last night and Part II, which will air again tonight on PBS-TV. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/carter/

As Jimmy has written in his book, The Virtues of Aging, "It's better to be seventy years young than forty years old."

What did Pope John Paul II say to President George W. Bush?
