I'm taking some time off this summer and will upload some of my older work to show you that I did illustrations within the 100-year time window of this blog. I chose to work without models and rely on imagination instead. This was done 60 years ago in 1952 with Higgins color inks on cold-pressed Whatman illustration board. I signed it "barba" because art directors of that time generally couldn't deal with ethnic names if they were more than two syllables. I used the illustration as a sample page in my portfolio and eventually got work doing travel folders for Pan American Airways via their Boston direct mail agency.
This is the sketch from which the illustration, above, was done. More to come.
