Michael Fay's Faces of War
In the tradition of Kerr Eby and other great American combat artists, Michael Fay of the U.S. Marine Corps has brought to life -- as only artwork can -- the lives of our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq in his web log Fire and Ice. Here are some examples of his excellent work taken directly from his blog. Click on the images to enlarge them.

I served with the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan. This is some great art work. Are these prints available to buy?

I saw an exhibit of the faces of war yesterday at the James A. Michener Museum. The works are an inspiration, depicting moments of quiet in what must be hell. Thank you for these thought provoking portraits.

Very inspiring work Michael! So glad to see someone putting something as futile as war to better use!
Cheers.

Stunning work. Wonderful how he "paints" with the pencil, echoing illustration's greats like Gibson, Flagg & others. Thanks for posting this, Paul.
